Description: Use marker to write each letter on individual Post-it® notes, such as, the at family. These are stuck on to the inside of a manilla folder. Students then take letters and create the at family words, such as: at, bat, cat, fat, hat, mat, pat, rat, sat, tat, and vat. Post its will wear out and will need to be replaced, but the post its last about a week or two.

Finding the Median

Description: When I am teaching median to my second grade students, I have them measure their arm, height, and length of their thumb. They write their own meausurement on a post-it, and they arrange the measurements from least to greatest on the board. We take off one Post-it from each end until we are left with the median or middle number.

Writing and Sharing Connections

Description: After reading a story aloud, students relate to their own personal experiences to make connections to the story that was read. Each child uses a Post-it® note to write down their response and share it with the class on our big Post-it Chart Paper.

End-of-Year Warm Fuzzies

Morning Routine

Description: Every Morning, the student who enters the class checks the lunch calander. Using Post-it® notes, the student selects the proper choices for the day and puts it under lunch selections. Each student who enters the class puts their clip next to the lunch selection on the post it they want. The lunch manager takes count and records it for the cafeteria. Students "compete" to be the first in class to set up the post it notes.
