Estimated Time: 0-10 minutes

Description: Students are assigned a topic of the day. Each takes a Post-it® and writes a word that is part of the "vocabulary tapestry" pertinent that topic. On the back of the Post-it, they write a brief definition, researched from the dictionary. Each student then posts the words on a large square designated area. Students form two teams, taking turns to guess the definitions of each word, using context clues, word origin clues, roots, prefixes, etc. The team with the highest score as the Post-its are removed, wins the game.

Estimated Time: 50-60 minutes

Description: Students match artist's names and styles with their particular works of art that are displayed around the classroom. The artist's names are written on Post-it® notes of certain colors, the artist's styles are written on Post-it notes of other colors. The students are asked to take the Post-it notes and stick them on the works of art displayed in the room; matching the artist's name and style or period of art with the particular art work. For instance, Starry Night-Vincent Vangogh. Then the students sit in a circle and discuss the works of art, if they are labeled correctly and how these works fit into history. Rap songs are written about the works of art and the artists.

Estimated Time: 0-10 minutes

Description: In the science center is placed a pad of Post-it notes. When students make a discovery or have a question about the science materials available they write it on a Post-it. They can choose to leave their discovery post-it for others to read or bring it to the readers's chair to read to class. We often have big discussions which clarify the discovery, create more questions, and sometimes we clear up misconceptions.
