Estimated Time: 50-60 minutes
Description: An eight year old student who has never taken a standardized test using a bubble sheet can easily skip a line and throw off the remaining answers. So, I give each student a 3x3 Post-it® note, and model how to keep track of their work. In addition, at the end of the test, the students use that same post it, as I confirm that all questions have been answered by calling off one number at a time.

Description: Using sticky notes have students write a number between 1 and 100. Next have students arrange their notes from least to greatest on the board. For upper levels use higher numbers or have the children write an number sentence and then put them in order from least to greatest depending on the answer.

Estimated Time: 20-30 minutes
Description: Each child writes a five step activity (ex. tying shoes). I pass out 5 sticky notes 4x6 size. Each child writes one sentence on each of the 5 sticky notes. The children mix up the order of events on their desk. Divide the class into two groups. The movers and the checkers. The movers will move to the checkers desks and try to sequence their activty. The checkers will tell them if they are correct. Each child will try all sequecing activites. When that group has finished, the other half has their turn.

Estimated Time: 0-10 minutes
Description: Post-it notes are distributed to each student. They record the MOST IMPORTANT aspect of being an AMERICAN !!! (They also illustrate a small picture to further emphasize their choice) I post these, accompanied by U.S. flags, of course, on my door as an incredible tribute. (I've used for Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Election Day, 911, etc.) A student example: "I am proud to be an American because we have soldiers fighting for us who don't even KNOW us!" PROFOUND!!
