Estimated Time: 20-30 minutes

Description: At the end of our money unit, my students turn our classroom into a store. Each student receives a small stack of Post-it® notes and creates price tags for the objects in our class. My students often like to place Post-its on me, selling my earrings and shoes ! After all of our items are tagged, the students are given a budget for which they will have 3-5 minutes to shop till they drop. The students use dry erase boards to keep track of their spending. When the buzzer goes off, the students will "drop" to the floor. Each child will present to the class their list of items that they have purchased. Teacher will check the totals to make sure they have stayed inside the budget. Round 2 of shopping will be changed by reducing or increasing the budget, or having the students only buy things with even/odd prices. This activity is also great to use with partners.
