Every time a student needs to know how to spell a new word, they bring a Post-it® Note to me that they can write the word on as I spell it. They keep those stuck to their desks until they no longer need them. They share their post-its with one another and help each other learn to spell new words.
Instructions:
Step 1: Student needs to know how to spell a new word. They grab their post-it and a pencil.
Step 2: They ask their table mates if anyone has the word. If so They write down the word on their post-it. If not they go to the teacher for the spelling. The teacher helps the student spell the word and it is kept on the students desk.
Step 3: The words collect and can be kept on their desk top or stuck into their writing journals for future use. They can alphabetize them, use them for their writing activities, and help their classmates with new words.
