Materials Needed: Post-it® Specialty Die Cut Notes, Star Shapes (7350-STR), Post-it® Easel Pads, Recycled (1 Pad) (559RP), This activity would need a new post-it note that doesn't exist yet, Puzzle pieces,markers,vocabulary words, post-it poster paper

  • Post-it® Easel Pads

  • Puzzle pieces
  • markers
  • vocabulary words
  • post-it poster paper

Description:

If there was a “puzzle piece” die cut Post-it® notes, students could sort vocabulary words to build a big poster of puzzle pieces.

Instructions:

Step 1: The teacher writes different vocabulary words with the same attributes, i.e. "at" word family words, or "op" word family word, etc. As well as some other vocabulary words that don't fit the attribute using colored markers on puzzle pieces.

Step 2: Students then sort all of the posts-its by word families making the puzzles pieces fit together on a post-it poster paper. Maybe the words that don't fit could be written upside down so that they won't fit the big puzzle.

Step 3: Hang up poster of puzzles with different word families.
