Materials Needed: Post-it® Super Sticky Notes 4 x 6

Materials Needed:

  • Post-it® Super Sticky Notes 4 x 6

Description:

On going learning center to promote comprehension strategies.
Students make conections to text in text to text, text to self and text to world. Write on Post-it® and display on center wall.

Instructions:

Step 1: Complete reading assignment to include: text, leveled readers, library book, chapter books, short stories or Reader\'s Theatre

Step 2: select a post a note and complete one or more connection that is appropriate to your reading include your name, title of reading material and date.

Step 3: Proofread your work and and have a buddy read for peer check

Step 4: share your connection with class orally

Step 5: Post on center wall chart for all to enjoy

Afterwards:

Objective: Students will identify with use of connections to develop comprehension strategies to help in understanding of text in a variety of genres.

Lesson Extensions: Use in independent reading journals daily apply to monthly news reports create story boards

Supporting All Learners: intervention series supplied buddy up on group reading assignments leveled readers provided use in literature circles

Assignment/Home Connection: book reports applying connections apply to movie and tv viewing newspaper scavenger hunt to find connections
