Materials Needed:

  • Post-it® Specialty Die Cut Notes
  • Star Shapes (7350-STR)
  • Post-it® Flags 1 inch
  • Red (680-RD2)
  • Post-it® Flags 1 inch
  • Blue (680-BE2)

Description:

Post-it notes are distributed to each student. They record the MOST IMPORTANT aspect of being an AMERICAN !!! (They also illustrate a small picture to further emphasize their choice) I post these, accompanied by U.S. flags, of course, on my door as an incredible tribute. (I’ve used for Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Election Day, 911, etc.) A student example: “I am proud to be an American because we have soldiers fighting for us who don’t even KNOW us!” PROFOUND!!

Instructions:

Step 1: Distribute flag post its. Students respond to: "Why I'm a proud American"......

Step 2: Students illustrate a simple image to accompany their thoughts. I post all over the classroom door for: Presidents' Day, 911, Memorial Day, etc. I also hang American flags to surround their ideas. I get numerous compliments on these, and it helps the students connect school with REAL LIFE and American pride!! CITIZENSHIP!!
