Description:

Using weekly vocabulary words or any other words to discuss, children will place a Post-it® Note for each word on paper sized large enough to accommodate each word. The word is to be written underneath the Post-it. The Post-it covering the word is to be used to make a drawing defining the word.

Instructions:

Step 1: Place Post-its for each vocabulary word on a paper sized large enough to accommodate each post-it.

Step 2: Write one vocabulary word under each Post-it.

Step 3: On the Post-it covering the word, draw a picture that would define the word.

Afterwards:

Objective: Discuss meaning of words and develop vocabulary.

Lesson Extensions: Can be used for any subject (science, social studies, math, art, music, etc...) when introducing new vocabulary.

Supporting All Learners: increased understanding of vocabulary for visual learners, expands vocabulary for English Language Learners, for low readers it can be adapted by using alphabet stamps and students stamp the letter of the first sound in the word they hear when presented by teacher and peek under to check their work.
