Students must write positive traits only. One at a time students sticky their adjectives to the noun. The noun will then act out the verbs at teacher direction. Now everyone has a visual representation of the job of the parts of speech as well as a good laugh. Teacher will compare the visual to the parts of speech in sentences on the board.

Instructions:

Step 1: Pick a student who is outgoing and can handle other students putting sticky notes on him or her.

Step 2: This can be a review of adjectives, nouns, and verbs. Let students know that the volunteer is now the noun.

Step 3: Review what an adjective does and give some examples adjectives toward the noun and let student know they will be writing adjectives on the sticky notes about the noun. Some adjectives to use are intelligent, tall, handsome, etc.

Step 4: Give students a sticky note and have them write their adjective. After a few minutes, students read their adjective and stick the note on the noun\'s arm, back, leg, shoe, but not around the face. Discuss that adjectives stick to nouns and describes the noun or modifies the noun.

Step 5: Then have the noun respond to verb commands such as sit, stand, jump, run, sleep, etc. Discuss that the noun does the action the verb tells it to do.

Step 6: Write some sentences on the board using the noun, the adjectives, and the verbs used during the demostration. Discuss the role of each part of speech and how to find them in the sentences.

Afterwards:

Objective: Students will understand the function of and use the parts of speech in reading, speaking and writing.
