  • Periodic Table

Description:

This is a fun activity to teach after reading about the periodic table.

Instructions:

Step 1: Divide the class into two teams. The teacher places a Periodic Table covered with two colored Post-it® Notes one representing Metals and the other color for Non-Metals on the board or smart board.

Step 2: To play the game students will have to identify, name and interpret chemical elements on the table.

Step 3: Tell students they have 2 minutes to review their periodic table before the game starts.

Step 4: Give each student a symbol representing an element on Post-it Note.

Step 5: Call each student to the Periodic Table having them identify, name and interpret chemical element by placing their element symbol Post-it Note on the top of the covered element.

Step 6: Uncover the Post-it Note after the student gives their answer. he team with the most points naming, identifying and interpret chemical elements of the periodic table is the winner. POINTS: Identify element (symbol)=1 point Names the element=1 point Interprets chemical element (atomic number)= 2 points
