Invisible Addition and Subtraction

Materials Needed: Post-it® Super Sticky Notes 2 x 2, Pencil and crayons, calculator

Materials Needed:

  • Post-it® Super Sticky Notes 2 x 2
  • Pencil and crayons
  • calculator

Description:

This is a fun activity reviewing addition, and subtraction facts.

Instructions:

Step 1: Divide the class into pairs. The teacher will display examples on the board or smart board with empty Post-it® Notes arrangements that represent addition, and/or subtraction problems.

Step 2: The students will write and stack 10 Post-it Notes labeled 0 to 9.

Step 3: The partner will copy an arithmetic arrangement using Post-it Notes on a flat surface. The partner calls out numbers to fill empty Post-it Notes arrangements.

Step 4: Each partner completes the addition or subtraction correctly gets one point. The students can check each others answers with a calculator.

Step 5: The player with the most solved problems is the winner.
