Description:

This is a fun activity to review addition of numbers using Post-it® Notes as Dominoes.

Instructions:

Step 1: Divide the class into pairs. The teacher will display four large dominoes Post-it Notes on the board or smart board placing them facing up. Model the how to match the addition dominoes pieces to another addition domino Post-it Note. Students will use a pad of Post-it Notes to make their own addition dominoes of number problems 1-10.

Step 2: Each partner makes 24 Post-it Notes dominoes. Tell students to write the addition equations horizontally and draw a line vertically to separate a number value.

Step 3: The teacher will write several examples on the large Post-it Notes. The first player lays a domino Post-it Note down in center of their desk.

Step 4: The next player must join an addition domino Post-it Note to the first one, but the ends that show must have the same value. For example; 1+5 could join six, 6, or 3+3. If the player can not lay down a domino, they have to pick up one

Step 5: The first player to use up all their addition dominoes is the winner.
