Materials Needed:

  • Post-it® Specialty Die Cut Notes
  • Post-it® Flag+ Highlighter & Pen (691-HLP2)
  • Post-it® Address Labels (3200-A)
  • 3M™ Shipping Labels (3200-S)

Description:

Students design and decorate with Post-it® Notes a journal, travel bag and stuffed animal to travel around the world, sending back emails and a journal filled with experiences. Students will track the movement the best they can, based on emails, of their ambassador.

Instructions:

Step 1: The students will research and choose a destination for their “Ambassador” to travel to.

Step 2: Students will design a journal for messages to be left in, and a travel pack for their “Ambassador” to take with them. They will use Post-it Note shapes, pens, and highlighters.

Step 3: The students will write a letter in the journal from themselves and their “Travelmate”, introducing the journey. They will also write a summary on the city in which they live in.

Step 4: Students will locate each chosen destination on a map. As the “Travelmates” return, students will map out their travels to see where their Ambassador ventured to.

Step 5: Students will also share the contents of the travel bag with their classmates.

Afterwards:

Objective: Long term goals with this project include a chance to see different locations of the world, without ever leaving the city they live in. Students will also strengthen their geography and research skills while choosing their destinations.

Lesson Extensions: One way I will be able to measure the success of my project, is how accurately my students can locate states and countries on a U.S. and World map. Secondly, success can be measured on their oral presentations of their travel bag and journal.
