Materials Needed:

  • Post-it® Notes 1 1/2 x 2
  • Canary Yellow (653)
  • Post-it® Notes 1 1/2 x 2
  • Pastel (653-A)

Description:

Everyday I write a question on the board. (Either a silly question or a question to discover prior knowledge.) Students each have their name on a Post-it Note® and they answer the question by placing their name in the correct column. Then, we discuss our graph we made and the question.

Instructions:

Step 1: Write your question on a marker board, chalk board, or any interactive writing board.

Step 2: As students arrive to class they answer the question.

Step 3: Discuss question and the chart/graph that is made. This is a great way to assess prior knowledge and to attendance in the morning.

Afterwards:

Objective: The student will be getting focused on the day or class by answering a simple question.
